The reserves secured runners up spot in the Pete's Patisserie County Senior League Premier Division on Wednesday with a fine 2-1 win over league winners Swinton Athletic.

Although once again the team was depleted because of work commitments the young players who came in did very well against a strong side who have won the league and Cup double.

Stocksbridge took the lead in the first half with an excellent volley from Joe Littlewood. Swinton equalised on sixty minutes from a penalty, but although having to make substitutions through injury they stuck at the task and a good move brought about the winning goal from Ryan McDonald.

The game should have been wrapped up after another good move but the chance was wasted.

With one more game to play the team can now relax and enjoy what has been an excellent season.
