F.A. Cup preview

Its the FA Cup this weekend where Stocksbridge Park Steels face a trip to NCE League

Premier Division title favourites Handsworth Parramore.

Chris Hilton has been baffled by Steels start to the season that's seen defeats at Market Drayton Town (3 1) and 2 1 at home against Gresley FC on Tuesday,“Its been a difficultstart to be honest and one I just can’t put my finger on it at the moment,” said Hilton.

“Its more or less the same group of players that finished so well last season yet we are playing like we hardly know each other.

“We’ve conceded five goals in two games but to be fair we’ve not really been cut open by our opponents, we’ve given the goals away.

“Our problem at the moments is getting everyone fit and one the pitch. Corey

(Gregory) is still suspended for one match but even so is struggling with an injury whileAdam Hinchliffe is a couple of weeks away yet.”

Hilton felt his Steels could have beaten Gresley. “I thought if we could have got in front we would have gone on and won the game even with ten-men,” he said.

“I thought it was poor from both teams in the first half. We started the second well

then conceded a penalty and are down to ten. We responded well, looked hungry then got the equaliser through Scott Ruthven, who I thought deserved his goal. But then we switch off and concede a soft goal, which is not like us.”

Hilton is hoping his side can respond in a positive manner by bouncing back against

Handsworth but knows that will be far from easy. “ It’s going to be a tough game,

they’ve got EvoStik players in their team and they’ve also had a good start to the

season winning all four games, so they’ll be full of confidence.

“They will be wanting to put one over us and I think it would be fair to say, they start

slight favourites.

“We’ve not had the start we wanted, but if we play like we’re capable of then we can go their and get the right result. We’ll go with a game plan and hopefully get our first win of the season and kick on from there.”

If a replay is required it will take place at Bracken Moor on Tuesday
