Stocksbridge Park Steels go to Northwich Victoria in search of a fourth win in five game.
Steels came from behind to beat Carlton Town 2-1 at Bracken Moor in the last outing, aresult that pleased boss Chris Hilton, if not the performance. “That’s nine points now
from the last three games which is a good return after the first three games when we took just one point so you have to be pleased with that.
“It wasn’t a good game to be fair, we played too many long balls. We didn’t get the ball down and zip it around like we can do. But what was pleasing is that we’ve showed
strong mentality to come from behind again and win the game.”
Northwich have failed to win in the league so far and prop up the table on goal
difference having taken four-points from four draws out of eight league outings. Hilton
though doesn’t worry too much about statistics particularly at this stage of the season
saying. “We don’t worry about the opposition anymore, when we have done in the
past we’ve come unstuck.
Its about imposing yourself on other teams and concentrating on what we do on the
“The league hasn’t setted down yet. It will be a few more games before you have an
idea on what teams may or may not do, then perhaps you might alter how you
approach individual games.”
Hilton revealed that Ashley Burbeary (pictured) could possibly be out for two months
after the midfielder was carried off on a stretcher with an ankle injury late on in the win
against Carlton last weekend. “Its not broken but there is some ligament damage,
said Hilton. “We don’t know how serious it is at the moment until he’s been assessed
after the swelling has gone down. But I would think we’re definitely looking at four
weeks and possibly a couple of months being without Ash, which is a blow.”
Corey Gregory is still not ready to return after failing a fitness test last weekend. But
there is some good news with striker Scott Ruthven feeling no reaction to his injury
after being given a run out for the last 10 minutes against Carlton.
Hilton is understood to be close to bringing in a left sided midfield player before next
Tuesday home game against Shaw Lane AFC.
