Away win for Steels

Romulus 0 Stocksbridge PS 1

A Joe Lumsden (pictured) goal got Steels a valuable away win they now move into 7th place in the Evo-Stik Division 1 South. With Romulus being beaten at their home ground for the first time this season.

Although the home side hit the crossbar on two occasions, Steels had the better of chances in the first 45 minutes, Jake Whelan and Nathaniel Crofts had good chances.

Whelan shot wide from close range and Crofts hit the side netting from a similar distance.

Steels scored just before the break when Matt Reay headed a corner towards goal and Lumsden turned it in from close range.

The second half which pretty much the same with Steels on top throughout. Both Whelan and Scott Ruthven had decent chances but apart from one overhead kick keeper David Reay was pretty much untroubled.

Steels should have increased their lead near the end when George Grayson somehow failed to score from a poorly defended corner.

On Tuesday night Steels are at home in the Sheffield and Hallamshire senior cup against North Gawber Colliery Kick off 7.45pm
