Steels Prove a Point

By David Bradley

Steels showed they are serious about the playoffs by keeping their third clean sheet in a row against a very good Witton side and getting a good draw away.

Although Witton had the first few chances. Witton had a dangerous free kick that was deflected out for a corner. The resulting corner was then swung in where the ball pinged about like a ball in a pinball machine until it trickled out for a goal kick.

It was steels to attack next with 2 dangerous free kicks with the latter hitting the post after the keeper didn't set his wall correctly and Hinchcliffe almost punished it. Lumsden then made space for himself only to hit it straight at the keeper.

2nd half and steels were certainly the better team and were unlucky not to come back with 3 points. Firstly Hinchcliffe put in a good cross which went straight across goal but no one could poke it in. Steels then had a corner which was saved well by the Witton keeper. Witton then went close with a thumping shot that hit the crossbar.

Back up the other steels went and Hinchcliffe put in a great cross for Lumsden but his toes were agonisingly short. Witton then had a opening when they cut it back with the keeper all ends up, the block from Raey went straight back into the bread basket of Raey in the net, at lightning pace. Both teams looked for a winner but neither could find one.
