Lincoln United - Preview

Stocksbridge Park Steels will aim to continue their winning run when they go to play-off rivals Lincoln United .

Just when their promotion hopes looked to have vanished, Steels have hit top form winning the last four on the spin which has catapulted them into serious play-off contenders once more.

The Bracken Moor club are now just two-points outside the top five with a game in hand following derby win at Sheffield FC on Tuesday evening.

“I think because the pressure was off us a little the players have relaxed and played the football we know they’re capable of producing,” said boss Chris Hilton.

“Sometimes you have to win ugly at this stage of the season but we’ve always played our quick passing football when we can. We did that against Ilkeston last weekend when they were just playing it long most of the time. It was difficult to do that against Sheffield because of the pitch so you have to change your style sometimes.

“We’ve got two important games coming up both tough away trips against Lincoln on Saturday then at Rushden & Diamonds next Tuesday, both who are directly above us in the table.

Its important we don’t lose either game. We’ll be going their to win both games but If we can get a point from each that would be good as we wont have lost any ground on them. If we can pick up a win and a draw that would be brilliant. But like I’ve always said we’ll take one game at a time.”

Hilton was delighted to have completed a league double over Sheffield said; “Its always nice to come away with the three-points in a derby game.

“I felt we were the better team for the first half hour. They got on top on put us under some pressure. The game kept swing one way then the other but we know we’re always capable of scoring a goal. It was a good derby game and I thought both teams gave everything.”

Stocksbridge will be without Adam Hinchcliffe for the trip to Lincoln, while Nat Crofts loan spell has come to an end. But Jack Poulton should be back after missing the last two games with a back injury.

Lincoln won 3-0 at Bracken Moor just last month and go into the game have lost just two of the last 14 league games
