Steels lose away at Basford

Basford United 3 Stocksbridge Park Steels 1

Steels were very much under strength when they visited Evo-Stik south rivals Basford United, Chris Hilton made 3 enforced changes to the side that lost against Spalding United on Saturday.

Although Steels started the game brightly, two headers from Kieran Wells within the space of 10 minutes gave the home side a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Steels briefly got back into the game when they were awarded a penalty on 74 minutes which was converted by Brodie Lichfield.

But the home team guaranteed the win when Liam Hearn scored the third goal 10 minutes later.

Stocksbridge now travel to Colwyn Bay on Saturday for an FA Cup preliminary round match.
