Steels lose at Corby

Corby Town 2 Stocksbridge Park Steels 1

By Gerry Lucas

STEVE Kinniburgh saw his first game in charge end with an excellent victory for Corby Town.

Corby had a chance when Leon Lobjoit hit a volley just wide of the far post. However, seconds later an excellent through ball found Lobjoit, he ran on and past outrushing keeper David Reay to calmly flick home.

The visitors found Corby's defence in excellent form, although it took a last-ditch tackle by Jamie Anton to stop Richard Stirrup in his tracks.

A good save by Reay denied Jordan Crawford's effort from 20 yards, while Corby had another chance when Ben Diamond's shot beat Reay in goal, but Liam McFadyen cleared.

Steels' Scott Ruthven firedin a late consolation.
