Poor defending costs Steels

Stocksbridge PS 0 Newcastle Town 2

by David Bradley

Steels crashed to a 2-0 defeat after some poor defending in the 1st half to let in Newcastle Town. Arron Bott was the first to capitalise on the sorry Steels defence as he out muscled Todd Jordan on the wing and then sprinted through and slammed the ball through the keepers legs and into the back of the net.

Steels then slipped up again as a free kick in no mans land was taken short and with no wall Bradbury was allowed to come forward into the penalty area and shoot, James Askey got a touch to steer the ball home.

Second half Steels should have had a penalty but that was waved away but overall Newcastle deserved their win and defended well over the game.
