Hepworth Utd 0 Stocksbridge PS Reserves 3

Our reserves travelled to the picturesque ground of Hepworth United FC a relative new facility the pitch although on a slope was in good condition. It must have suited us because we scored in the first minute, kicking up hill we won a throw in and Harry Hurst flicked on Andy Dawsons long throw for Luke Webster to spin and fire into the bottom corner.

The goal gave us momentum and we caused Hepworth several problems, they had a big aerial presence up front and we had to be on our guard. We suffered a blow on twenty five minutes when centre half Jordan Crofts landed heavily and dislocated his shoulder forcing him to leave the field, young midfielder Ashley Simpson went to centre back.

Hepworth should have equalised from a corner early in the second half but the chance was wasted this made us up our game and Luke Webster got his second goal from a great cross by Andy Dawson, Andy has assisted in nearly every goal we have scored this season. We had to defend well as a team to maintain our lead but the game was put to bed when Rodney Bruce put in an excellent cross for Adam Shepherd to head our third.

Another good result with a young squad making it six games unbeaten in league and cup we now have eleven points from five games so we are pleased with our start to the season.

Our next game is at home on Saturday 22nd September v Wombwell Main FC
