BOND NOT SHAKEN HAS HE BREAKS WOMBWELL HEARTS

Stocksbridge Park Steels reserves beat Wombwell 3-2 in a good game at Bracken Moor. Once again the reserves had to make changes, captain Andy Dawson was missing due to him watching Parkgate FC where he is taking over as manager, Jordan Crofts was missing after dislocating his shoulder last week.

The first half was at tight affair with both sides going close, seventeen year old Rodney Bruce broke the deadlock when he drove at the Wombwell defence and fired a left foot shot into the top corner. Webster and Townsend missed good chances to extend the lead.

Wombwell equalised just before half time to send the teams in level. Wombwell started the better in the second half and went in front after sixty minutes from sloppy defending at a free kick. Cleote replaced the injured Webster and Grayson came on for debutant Heaps and Steels got back in the game a good save denied Townsend a goal and Shepherd fired over from inside the box.

From a free kick Hurst kept the ball alive and Townsend volleyed in the equaliser, Grayson linked up well with Shepherd to allow Oliver Warren to fire Steels in front.

Both teams kept pressing and the impressive Nunnington was unlucky to give away a penalty in the last minute ,but Will Bond produced an excellent stop to secure the points and make it four wins and two draws from six games.

Steels reserves are at home Wednesday 26th September v Swinton FC.
