High Green Villa 2 Stocksbridge PS Reserves 2
A Luke Townsend brace rescued a point for Steels in the local derby on Saturday, Villa were the best side for an hour of this game and played the better football taking the lead in the first half when the Steels defence failed to deal with a cross into the box, although not playing well Steels created some chances in the first half but were wasteful in front of goal.
Things didn't improve much at the start of the second half and Villa increased their lead with a curling shot from Jack Jones into the far corner of Bonds goal. Steels changed their shape and went to three at the back and this started the comeback ,good pressing in midfield got the ball to Townsend and he looked up and chipped the keeper from thirty yards, Steels were now on the front foot and put the tiring Villa defence under more pressure the equaliser came when Townsend again got on the ball and made himself a yard of space to curl home a great strike from the edge of the box. Although now on top Steels still had to be careful not to get caught on the break.
Whilst this was probably Steels reserves worst performance of the season they can take the positive from not letting their heads drop at two nil down to come back and gain a point, it means they have still only lost one game out of twelve this season. Next game is Saturday 24th November v AFC Penistone 3pm kick off.
