Stocksbridge PS Res 3 Denaby Utd 0
Steels reserves started the new year with a fine three nil win over mid table Denaby Utd. Steels welcomed back captain Adam Shepherd and Richard Adams who both missed the last game through suspension and youngster Joe Hawkesworth kept his place after a good performance last time out.
This was the first game since before christmas and it showed with Denaby starting the brighter of the two sides, and having a lot of possession but not being able to breach the Steels defence, however Steels started to get a foothold in the game and put their opponents under pressure, they took the lead when a good ball into the box by Beresford was fumbled by the keeper and Mo Saeed was on hand to tap home.
Steels played much better in the second half and took the game to Denaby and Townsend got the second with a fine curling effort into the top corner of the goal, he then missed a penalty shortly after he was brought down in the box.
Oliver Warren replaced the hard working Grayson and Jordan Crofts replaced Berresford for his first game since dislocating his shoulder in September ,and it was Warren who got the third with a rasping volley from a great ball by Hurst.
The win puts Steels back up to third place three points off top spot with thirty two points from sixteen games.
