Handsworth Parramore Res 0 Stocksbridge PS Res 3
Steels reserves travelled to Handsworth for their latest league game and put in a convincing performance to take the three points.
On a very bumpy, patchy pitch it was difficult for either side to play any football and it took Steels a while to settle into the game, both sides had several youngsters in the team but it was Steels experienced spine that made the difference.
Steels took the lead from a corner when a good delivery from Berresford was only
cleared to the edge of the box and Oliver Warren fired the ball into the roof of the goal. Handsworth had a good opportunity to equalise but Bond got his angles right and the shot went wide, Steels went further in front when Townsend back heeled in from a header by Adams.
The second half started well and it wasn't long before the third goal arrived, Warren provided a good ball into the box from a free kick and Webster produced a well directed header into the goal.
Steels didn't give Handsworth any opportunities in the second half and got stronger as the game went on, Hawkesworth and Cleote replaced Simpson and Townsend and both caused the oposition problems with their movement and passing.
Captain Adam Shepherd kept Steels on the front foot with his energetic performance right to the final whistle, and another three points which puts them level with second placed Dodworth MWFC and three points behind top spot.
Steels next game is against second placed Dodworth MWFC at Bracken Moor on Saturday
