Under the lights of the Look Local Stadium, Stocksbridge Park Steels our young Res side faced a difficult task against a mature Penistone side, but from the kick off they showed great character and set a frantic pace that the visitors matched

With the game going end to end it was difficult to see how they would maintain the pace, and after just 12 minutes The Steels took the lead, from a well delivered free kick Joe Singleton rose high above the rest, to glide a looping header past the away keeper.

The game continued at a frantic pace and errors were being made by both sides, and on 24 mins The Steels suffered due to a defensive error and Penistone hit the equaliser.

With the game now slowing it was the award of a free kick 25 yards from goal that put The Steels back in front, when young Zak Walker fired an unstoppable shot up and over the wall, this was not to be the end of the action, and recovering from long term injury Ed Hall in the Steels goal made 2 fantastic stops to keep us in front.

H T 2-1

The second half was much the same with Jordan Crofts and his back four holding firm, until he gave away a needless penalty which was thankfully ballooned over the bar, and the Steels held on for 3 deserved points.

Some good performances but my Man of the Match - Jordan Croft
