Stocksbridge Park Steels 1 Leek Town AC FC 1
With the rain pouring down for the most part of the day, it may of surprised some people that the game would be played, and what a treat the crowd were served.
With Leek coming into the game on a run of wins, and the young Steels side continuing to show promise, it was the home side who started the brightest.
With changes being made from Saturday due to injuries, young Cameron Foulkes was drafted into midfield, and it proved to be an inspirational move from Chris Hilton.
The Steels passing game was crisp and at times delightful to watch, new recruit Steve McDonnell started to show some great pace and was making the impressive Leek back line work for their money.
However it was a mistake from Robert Ludlam on 38 mins that led to the first goal, gifting the ball to Baker who crossed for Reeves to tap in.
Steels started the second half with a real positive attitude and pace, Mangham, Swinburn and McDonnell up front supported by both full backs Lemon and Trench pushing forward kept Leek pinned in and defending in numbers.
Ruthven and Turner controlled the middle of the park, the crowd were on the edge of there seats, with efforts going wide hitting the post and bar, were we going to miss out, with only minutes to play, Hilton made his final substitution, bringing Fielding on for Man of the Match Cameron Foulkes, and what an inspired move it proved to be, with the last play of the game, a corner was planted into the box and Reece glanced the ball into the corner of the net.
