LATE GOAL EARNS A REPLAY

Pickering 1 Stocksbridge PS 1

The Steels travelled to Pickering on Sunday in the FA Trophy, with the game being switched from Saturday due to the Pickering War Weekend.

With key players missing and the rain non stop throughout, the game was a credit to both sides who tried to play and indeed did play entertaining football.

Pickering started very brightly and poor defending allowed on loan striker Sam Cable to lob the ball over the oncoming Ed Hall after only 3 minutes. The first half continued at a frenetic pace, and both sides created good chances, and with both keepers playing well it was difficult to see where goals were going to come from.

HT 1 - 0

With the rain still falling the second half started in the same frantic pace, with chances coming fast and furious, Swinburn, Whitham, Ruthven and Nodder all going close, and at the other end two outstanding saves from Ed Hall kept The Steels in the game.

It was the only mistake of the game from home keeper Foulkes that allowed Steels back into the game, when a shot from Josh Nodder slipped through his hands and rolled into the net. This lifted the Steels and an onslaught in the last 20 minutes saw chances go begging, and the game finishing in a draw.

FT 1 - 1
