Cleethorpes Town 3 Stocksbridge Park Steels 1

With The Steels not having a game for nearly 2 weeks, it looked like this fixture may be called off, due to the persistent rain, however the hard work of the Cleethorpes ground staff, made the game playable, the game started at a real pace, and from the outset the home side made their intentions clear, faster, slicker passing and quick closing down, they dominated possession early on, as The Steels struggled to put passes together, The home sides front 3 ran The Steels back four ragged, and so it was a surprise when the first real goal opportunity fell to the visitors, however it was Cleethorpes who took the lead on 24 minutes, and from then on it looked like we could be looking at how many they would score, but with Ed Hall playing at his best producing stop after stop, we remained in the game.

The second half started as the first finished, The home side dominating, where in midfield it looked as if they had extra men, the second goal came midway through the half, and you would have thought its all over, but after bringing on the subs, The Steels improved and started to have a few chances, with Kane Swinburn firing low, bringing out a great save from the Home Keeper. from the resulting corner Scott Ruthvern flicked a header home, back in the game we thought, however Cleethorpes increased the lead 2 minutes later direct from a corner, when sadly Ed Hall let the slippery ball through his gloves.

Final Score 3-1
