Not a good day for Stocksbridge Park Steels. Probably the worst home performance this season resulted in a 3-0 defeat to Kidsgrove Athletic. Steels went 1-0 down only 9 minutes, a nailed on penalty converted by Ruben Wiggins-Thomas, after a rash challenge from Michael Trench.
Wiggins-Thomas increased the lead on 27 minutes, and Josh Lundstram effectively made it game over just before the break, Kidsgrove going into half-time with a well deserved 3-0 lead.
Although the visitors didn't increase their lead in the second half, things got worse for the Steels when Kane Swinburn was booked for diving, Lewis Whitham got a straight red card for a bad tackle on Lee Williamson and the largely ineffective Danny Frost up front suffered another injury and had to be replaced.
Steels are back in action on Boxing Day with the second visit in a week to Frickley Athletic.
